We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization that was incorporated in 2011 to support the Harris County Veterinary Public Health animal shelter as well as Harris County pet owners, pets, and homeless animals.
We support and encourage adoption of homeless pets through Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services – Veterinary Public Health (HCPHES – VPH). VPH is always in need of volunteers to keep daily operations running smoothly and improve the animals’ quality of life. With your help, we can tackle everyone’s number one goal: higher live-release rates!
Friends of CountyPets coordinates events to raise much-needed funds to care for VPH shelter animals. We also work to spread awareness about the shelter and the needs of the animals themselves. By becoming involved with our community, Friends of CountyPets hopes to increase local appreciation and understanding of the homeless animal epidemic in Houston and of the shelter itself.
We are working in communities to educate citizens on how to best care for their pets. We also are providing resources to those communities. It is our hope that these citizens will actively work toward a better future for their pets.
Friends of CountyPets is also working to improve the quality of life for pets who live in Harris County. Not only do we provide information to pet owners about animal care and training, we also provide access to training, disaster preparation, microchipping, and spay/neuter services.
